Lead Cloud Engineer

  • Hybrid
    • Leiden, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
  • Product & Tech

Job description

We are looking for a Lead Cloud Engineer, with strong Azure experience, to join our DevOps team ⭐ You’ll take ownership of our DevOps and infrastructure landscape, working closely with our Technology Director, to shape how we build, run, and optimise our platform. From improving our Azure and Kubernetes setup to driving decisions around architecture, cost optimisation, and best practices, you’ll play a key role in bringing structure and direction to a fast-evolving environment.

What will you do as our Lead Cloud Engineer?

You’ll be guiding the team in setting priorities, assigning work, and ensuring smooth delivery across the DevOps function 🎯 A key part of your role will be leading ongoing improvements following our recent migration to Azure, including optimising architecture, performance, and cost, for example around storage strategies and usage patterns. You’ll also be responsible for managing and evolving our Kubernetes-based infrastructure and messaging systems (RabbitMQ), making sure the platform remains stable and scalable 📈

In addition to this, you’ll use observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana to understand system behaviour, identify issues, and drive longer-term improvements. You’ll take a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure and deployment challenges, while also designing and refining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes where needed to support reliable delivery. Working closely with Microsoft, you’ll help align on best practices and resolve technical issues, and you’ll be expected to bring ideas forward and make clear technical decisions to continuously improve and evolve the infrastructure without waiting for direction 🌟
